This mornings attack occurred between the hours of 2:30-3 a.m. at a location near East Outer Drive and Harper, which makes the eighth assault on women in Detroit since Jan. 1, including one attempted rape in which the woman was able to get away by fighting back and screaming, scaring the man away.
At the news conference, police would not release information regarding the vehicle the suspect drives, but a source told the Free Press the man is believed to be driving a dark-colored car, possibly a Grand Am.
So far the women targeted for attacks were typically between ages 19 and 22, in the late evening and early morning hours while they’re walking alone or waiting at bus stops. One woman was attacked after the man bumped her vehicle and she got out, police reported.
This mornings attack prompted city officials to allow city buses to make stops outside the police stations starting today to pick up any passengers waiting inside.
